Locked Down Las Vegas Documented in Photographic Time Capsule of COVID-Stricken City

Veteran photographer captures eerie images of an empty Vegas Strip for new book

LAS VEGAS, NV: Legendary still photographer and Las Vegas native Wally Hawkins today announced his newest photography collection capturing the essence of life on the Strip during the coronavirus pandemic. “My Home, Our Home, Your Playground, Lockdown to New Normal” is a striking time capsule – capturing an unprecedented scene in Las Vegas: emptiness. Hawkins was ready behind the lens as the pandemic began, pouring his heart into these never before published emotional images that document Las Vegas through the eyes of a Native-Son.

“These Las Vegas Strip pictures made me feel like I was living in a sci-fi movie, waiting for the zombies to start shuffling down Las Vegas boulevard,” says Hawkins.

“I don’t think we’ll ever see the Strip like this again. At least I hope not.”

Let these frozen moments serve as your window to a world that few witnessed in person. Hawkins is one of the only photographers in the world to capture Las Vegas during this time.

“Decades from now, many will forget what this time period was really like. But with Wally’s help, we can crystallize the memories of this poignant period,” said Emmy-Award winning journalist and photographer, Beau Berman.

With this exclusive photographic time-capsule you can journey through:

• The empty Las Vegas Strip
• The never-before closed casinos
• Thousands of lights gone dark

My Home, Our Home, Your Playground, Lockdown to New Normal is available now, at $75.00. To order and for more information on the author, visit www.wallyhawkins.com. Hawkins is available for in-person, phone, and Zoom interviews. Contact 702-465-1843 with all inquiries.
